Louis Aguirre is an anchor and reporter at WPLG Local 10 in South Florida. Aguirre recently returned to South Florida two years ago after co-hosting the nationally syndicated Emmy nominated Entertainment magazine TV show, “The Insider”
Aguirre, a two time Emmy-winning television journalist who first gained national prominence as a correspondent for Extra, joined THE INSIDER from Miami’s Fox affiliate, WSVN, in September 2014. He began at WSVN in 2003, where he served was an entertainment correspondent for 7News and co-anchor of Deco Drive, Miami’s No. 1 entertainment show.
Aguirre began his television career at Telemundo in 1989 as a Spanish-language reporter. He then made the jump to WPLG, ABC’s station in South Florida, as a reporter and then weekend anchor. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles to become a correspondent for the nationally syndicated entertainment newsmagazine Extra. He then served as lead correspondent for A Current Affair and as co-host for the Fox News Channel morning show Fox and Friends before returning to Florida to work at WSVN.
In addition to reporting on entertainment news, Aguirre has guest starred on hit shows such as Sex and the City, JAG, Burn Notice, Guiding Light and All My Children.
A native of Miami, Aguirre attended the University of Miami and the Universite de Paris at La Sorbonne. On his free time he enjoys spending time at the beach with his two rescue dogs. He’s also involved in many local charities and advocates for the Humane Society & Best Friends Animal Society. A starch defender of the planet, Aguirre is passionate about using his voice and his platform to create awareness about environmental issues.
